Notre Dame Recruiting | The Week That Was | 3.13
Sunday’s news that Notre Dame athlete signee Brandyn Hillman would not be a part of the Irish’s 2023 recruiting class overshadowed much of last week’s news, but it wasn’t the only news on the recruiting front for Notre Dame.
NEW OL COACH SHOULD FIT RIGHT IN: Notre Dame fans aren’t used to having a truly dynamic recruiter as an offensive line coach. Harry Hiestand and Jeff Quinn were certainly effective recruiting the position, but neither seemed to truly enjoy that part of the job.
Enter Joe Rudolph.
"Recruiting is one of the things that makes you the most excited about coaching,” the Irish’s new offensive line coach said last week.
“You have the opportunity to bring in guys for you to coach. That fires me up. I like that journey. I like to learn about personalities and skill sets, guys who are going to maximize every bit of the opportunity they have when they walk through the doors.”
2024 OL EXCITED TO GET TO SOUTH BEND: 2024 Pennsylvania offensive lineman Caleb Brewer hasn’t been to Notre Dame yet, but after a December offer, knew he wanted to make it up to South Bend.
Now, he has the chance to see what the Irish can offer on the last weekend of March.
Brewer has experience with new coach Joe Rudolph ever since he was offered by Virginia Tech, Rudolph's old school.
“I haven't talked to him while he is at Notre Dame yet,” he says. “I really liked him. I think he's a good coach, so that's definitely a plus.”
Brewer is planning on having a decision made before the start of his high school season.
VISITORS CONTINUE TO LINE UP FOR SPRING VISITS: South Bend will be home to many prospects throughout the spring.
The visitors will begin to pile up the weekend of March 25-26.
Visitors for that weekend will include many top-of-the-board prospects, such as 2024 defensive end Loghan Thomas, 2024 tight end Jaden Reddell, 2024 cornerback Jon Mitchell and 2025 wide receiver Jaime Ffrench.
These star-packed weekend visits will continue through the end of April, with the last weekend being the end of the spring Blue-Gold Game on April 22nd.
2025 Florida defensive line target Davion Dixon is one of those prospects who will be in town for the spring game.
“l want to get a connection with the coaches and get established there,” Dixon told ISD this week.

2025 RB ADDED TO BOARD: Notre Dame sent out an offer to 2025 Virginia running back Gideon Davidson last week.
The 6-foot, 193-pound speedster plays at Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Va.
His offer sheet also includes schools like Auburn, Colorado, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
He’s already got plans to be at Ohio State this summer.
We could give you some track times to explain his speed, but none will explain any better than this clip.
